Posted: 11-Jun-2012 15:17 Thought this might be of interest. Nice venue, recently undergone a major refurb. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EVENT DATE: Saturday 30th June 2012, 7pm Temple Village Hall, approx 10 miles South of Edinburgh, is hosting "Sensorium", who are also appearing at the Glasgow Jazz Festival the evening before. Sensorium's music mixes Scottish and Irish traditional music with Jazz, and the group was initially conceived by musician and composer Colin Tully back in the late nineties, as a response to having spent many years in Bristol separated from his Scottish roots. The idea of taking themes derived from the Scots/Irish tradition and weaving into a broadly jazz context is still at the heart of the group's sound today. Colin is best known for writing and performing on the much loved Bill Forsyth films, That Sinking Feeling and Gregory's Girl. Sensorium will play 2 x 45 minute sets, one of which will include a 20 minute overture of Gregory's Girl music with footage from the film played in the background. You can read more about Sensorium, and hear some of their music at: http://www.celticjazzrecords.com TICKETS for the event should be purchased before the evening and will include a light supper. |
