Posted: 13-Jun-2012 16:36 Hi, I'm interested in getting a tattoo with the phrase "more time" in Scottish Gaelic. Someone on Wikipedia translated it for me as "tuilleadh ama," and now I'd like to double-check that it's correct before committing it permanently to my skin. Can anyone verify this for me, or give me the correct translation if this one is wrong? Thanks so much. |

Posted: 13-Jun-2012 20:07 I would say barrachd ùine. Means pretty much the same as tuilleadh ama, just different dialects, I suppose. I would also replace ama with àm if it was me but that's a dialect thing again. You could also say barrachd ama/tuilleadh ùine, totally up to you. Hope that helps a wee bit! |

Posted: 14-Jun-2012 09:49 Well that, JAJ, is the difficult thing about getting something as permanent as a tattoo in a language that you do not speak. All the options are probably correct but only honscot knows the exact meaning of their tattoo and they won't know which of the random collection of letters means what they want. |

TheBlueBandana's suggestion of "mare thyme" made me laugh. :) In response to domhnull, the meaning behind "more time," for me, is that I'm constantly running behind and trying to find more time to do the things I want to do - on a daily basis and in life overall. There are never enough hours in the day! |
