Devon Sproule’s first UK release, Keep Your Silver Shined, proved an indie hit for her Coventry-based label Tin Angel Records, topping many year-end lists and landing her a spot on Later with Jools. Paste Magazine called the record “The sexiest, sultriest southern album since Lucinda’s Car Wheels on a Gravel Road.”
Sproule this month makes a rare appearance on this side of the Atlantic, including the most extensive string of Scottish dates she has ever played.
She lands in the UK straight from extensive on-the-road commitments in both America and Canada.
The latest album. “I Love You, Go Easy” has been picking up a lot of airplay once again.
She will have her full band for all but one of these dates - at Broughty Ferry - but that promises to be an extra special night with Special Guests appearing with her.
It’s rare for any artiste to attract such widespread appreciation. Here’s what the media have been saying….

“Sproule's voice is an elastic instrument of old-school soul, recalling anyone from Sara Carter to Patsy Cline” – Uncut magazine

“Perhaps the sweetest and most honest folk-pop. Sproule's vocal and lyrical beauty is unmatched”- Rolling Stone

“Devon Sproule could charm the birds right out of the trees” - Mojo

“Wry, slinky and breezy” – The Guardian

“Sproule's songs ooze the atmosphere of balmy Virginia days - she grew up in a commune in the state - and her sunny outlook is infectious” - Observer

“Sproule blends a delightfully contrary sense of phrasing with an authentic and understated Appalachian twang - vivid photographic slices of rural Americana”
- Dirty Linen

"She Can Charm The Birds Out Of The Trees"

She'll have a job in Mareel, will she not?

Since she lives in Germany that is obviously not true.

We've had some cracking gigs in Kilbarchan in recent years and this one ranked among the best.
Said this so many times, but if you get the chance to see Devon and her great band, grab it with both hands.
Stirling tomorrow, and Acoustic Music Club in Kirkcaldy on Thursday - the last Scottish date this time around.
