Posted: 20-Jun-2012 12:15 Another Grumpy Old Git contribution...... This has long been a source of irritation to me and *almost* even more annoying than the ubiquitous practice of people constantly "keying in" to their mobile devices in public places. Top of the "most annoying" buzz words/sayings etc is "Chillaxing" Who TF thought that one up? Also, when concert comperes etc ask the audience to "Give it up" for a certain band/performer. How i wish they would! |

Posted: 20-Jun-2012 13:14 Just when I thought we had "awesome" under control and duly declared daft and highly uncool, another wave comes crashing onto the shores of the UK from the other side of the Atlantic. The next one who tells me they are "pumped" about anything will be turned around and sent back to USA on the first available tramp steamer. |

Posted: 20-Jun-2012 13:48 "Give it up for...". I think I first heard Patrick Kielty using it (have I spelt his name wrong? I don't care). I detest it. No, that's not strong enough. Give WHAT up, for God's sake? Why??? I know its a small matter......but it can ruin an evening! |

Posted: 20-Jun-2012 14:15 Now you've started something JAJ! '"Give it up for" ... disliked here as well. Another (old) one I've never quite understood is "Put your hands together for" And will someone please explain to me how you can have 4 corners of a globe? |

Posted: 20-Jun-2012 19:21 "Absolutely" has been my pet hate word for a few years now - especially when over used by the TV field reporters. e.g. Newsreader: "Well Jim, they say that everybody's excited about ..blah blah..." Jim: "Absolutely! Blah blah blah..." I absolutely hate that word now. |

Posted: 21-Jun-2012 13:39 The term "Devo Max" annoys me. I'm not against the concept. I just wince every time I hear it - it reminds me so much of Pepsi Max and "maxing out your card" and also makes me think of that weird band Devo. Now there's "Devo Plus" in there as well . There must be a better way of saying it. |
