I take it there's never been a UK entry for foreign language and that the BAFTA old boys intend to keep it that way...?

Time to shoot some knackered horses and/or get an pan-Celtic film academy set up, and fight to get it independent nomination rights....

[Google tells me that there's been at least one Welsh nomination previously -- but still....]

I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and was hoping that maybe they'd said that Gaelic and Welsh are not foreign languages in the UK but if there's been a previous Welsh nomination then obviously not.
Have any of you seen this film? I felt that the music was just beautiful and really enhanced the film. I recognised Christine Primrose's voice. Do you know who else contributed?

from Temple Records website:

'The soundtrack features some fantastic Gaelic vocalists and musicians including Temple Records artist Christine Primrose, Màiri Nic a Ghobhainn, Caitlin NicAonghais, Allan Macdonald, Alasdair Codona, Mary MacMaster, and Hamish Moore'.

You can also get a taste of the music on the film's website.

The link shouldn't be too hard to find.

I really wanted to see this in Edinburgh at the Film Festival but both showings were sold out when I tried to buy tickets (3 weeks beforehand!). I will have to wait for dvd now.

I suspect that weepiper means he's out of the country. I made a point of going to the Festival showing because I knew I was "daein a flit"

I've heard lots about it, but haven't had the opportunity to see it yet. Does anyone know if it's coming up to the Highlands soon? Is there a site which gives details of where it's to be screened?

Very helpful, Onny. Positively suspicious on a Gaelic thread.
And there I had you down as Comment 15 and/or 19, pretending to be St George (and pretending to make mistakes. ;-))

I received the following e-mail through Iomairtean Gàidhlig:

a chàirdean

Gu ruige seo, chan eil plans aig VUE Inbhir Nis am fiolm ùr Seachd a thaisbeanadh,
is ged a tha iad ga thaisbeanadh an Dun Eidinn is Hamilton.

B' fhiach e canntain riuth gum bheil sinn ga iarraidh fhaicinn aig VUE an Inbhir Nis
cuideachd.

http://www.myvue.com/contact_us.asp

(VUE cinemas does not plan to show 'Seachd' in Inverness even though they are showing it in Edinburgh and Hamilton. Use the above link to ask them to show it in Inverness.)
You'll have to cut and paste the link, sorry.

Elizabeth.

Chris has every right to be angry. If they had chosen another film because they felt it was better then fair enough but to refuse to put forward any film is outrageous. 'Seachd' looks and sounds absolutely beautiful.

EilidhM - I think you will find that Vue Inverness is showing Seachd from Friday 5th October.
The problem is that they have chosen to miss out the word Seachd, and have just called it The Inaccessible Pinnacle.
If you look under All Films rather than Booking Now, you will find it. They have a strange way of listing, as I found out a few months ago when I was looking for the showing of The Flying Scotsman.

BAFTA Schmafta.
Again, I like to wear my feelings on my chest, so check out the latest addition to the Ùr-Nòs range (available in a choice of three colours).
