The "Ladies from Hell" was a nickname given to the kilted regiments by the Germans during World War11. The pipe tune was composed by Piper James "Harry" MacMillan Tait of the 1st Battalion The Black Watch. There are some fantastic tunes on this album, many named for famous groups or formations like the 51st Highland Division or famous events and battles like "The Massacre of Glencoe", "The Battle of Waterloo" and The Battle of Killiecrankie". Many pipe tunes were composed during the war years as troops marched with the pipes and drums leading.
On this recording, the band is under the direction of Pipe Major Steven Small and Drum Major Brian Alexander.
