Monthly news summary of all the happenings and up and coming events in the Scottish Traditional Music scene.
The wonderful tenor voice of Peter Mallan with a selection of popular Scottish songs. A household name in the 1960's Peter was a regular performer on such shows as The White Heather Club, Jigtime and the One O'Clock Gang. He had a number one hit with the song These are My Mountains and was voted 'Scottish Singer of the Year'. This is a lovely album of nostalgic songs which will tug the heart strings of those far from home.
|Title:||Scotland in Song: Peter Mallan|
|Review:||This is a delightful compilation. Peter Mallan's beautiful tenor voice echoes down the years. Two things stand out: a vocal technique that is sure but never 'showy' and beautiful diction linked to a natural, authentic pronunciation. Would that some of today's so-called 'tradition-bearers' could sing so melifluously.
My only 'gripe' is that there is so little information provided regarding both the artiste and the dates of recording. The singing itself is sheer delight.
