Monthly news summary of all the happenings and up and coming events in the Scottish Traditional Music scene.
Marie Fielding (fiddle), Owen Fielding (piano) and Duncan Black (accordion) are a trio of excellent musicians and their timing and execution of the material is quite simply brilliant!
"This album was inspired by an informal session at Stanley Ceilidh in November 2003. Although we had never played as a trio, the music was electifying. We wanted to to capture that moment again and keep the sound acoustic. You will hear tunes old and new on this album and tributes to many people including: Scott Skinner, Jim Johnstone, Jimmy Blue, John Gibson, Willie Hunter, Ronnie Cooper, The Hamefarers, Ian Powrie, Manus McGuire and Rabbie Burns. It has been a challenge choosing the contents of the album but great fun and very rewarding. We hope that you the listenerwill be able to relate to the tunes and stories with as much enjoment as we have".....Marie, Owen & Duncan.
|Review:||Amazing and brilliantly performed by all. Eben though all members are fantastic artists, there is something about Duncan I keep looking for and hoping to find. Love to hear him play, and he is candy to the eyes. (sorry - is that allowed?)|
|Review:||The age old question arises as to what is traditional Scottish music? I can quite happily say the answer lies in the cd case of the Tribute album. It really is a very well worked list of tunes, that will have you tapping your toes to the lilt of the cd. It is simply a brilliant album and anyone into their trad music wont go wrong adding this to their cd collection. As to the album title i slightly disagree,i would have titled it Legacy, because that is what it is, it truly is a legacy of Scottish trad music. Well done to Marie and the lads.|
