Ewan McLennan - The Last Bird to Sing: This follow-up to his debut CD 'Rags and Robes' is excellent; The singer guitarist has been making headlines over the last year or two, performing at festivals, clubs, and concert halls across the UK. 'The Last Bird to Sing' is a thoughtful mix of traditional songs and contemporary compositions. Reviewer Jim Gilchrist writing in the Scotsman described McLennan's voice as 'grainy delicate yet authoritative' and one that 'really communicates'. There are impressive guest musicians on the CD in the shape of Karine Polwart (harmony vocal), John McCusker (fiddle), Martin Simpson (slide guitar), and Laurence Blackadder (double bass).
Media Reviews
"Ewan McLennan’s second album brings together songs which champion the downtrodden, along with those expressing nostalgia for his homeland, punctuated with some dazzling instrumentals."

"Ewan McLennan’s second album brings together songs which champion the downtrodden, along with those expressing nostalgia for his homeland, punctuated with some dazzling instrumentals..... He has an impressive collection of guest musicians in Karine Polwart (harmony vocal), John McCusker (fiddle), Martin Simpson (slide guitar), and Laurence Blackadder (double bass). Ewan doesn’t put all of these together to form a folk supergroup, but uses their talents sparingly to enhance his own performances...." Bright Young Folk
