Bobby Crowe and his Scottish Dance Band - First Album: The recordings on this CD were first made in the mid 1960s and released as an LP titled "Dance to Bobby Crowe's Band". The album featured fourteen sets of traditional Scottish reels, waltzes, strathspeys, jigs and came out on the Glasgow-based Thistle of Scotland label. Shortly before the recording session, the band had been playing at Balmoral Castle at the request of Her Majesty the Queen. The line up for this first record by the quintet was Bobby Crowe on accordion, Terry Connor on fiddle, Bill Hendry, piano, Wym Skinner on bass and Colin Lander on drums. Wonderful sets of tunes and a truly great sound are the hallmark of this lovely album.
