Another fine book collected, compiled and arranged by Barry Shears, this is Barry's most recent collection (2001). Like the others in the series in addition to the pipe music it includes lots of photos and a historical essay on piping in Nova Scotia.
Barry Shears's work in Cape Breton bagpiping in many important ways is seminal and irreplaceable and while this is a collection of bagpipe music reflecting modern compositions and arrangements from several parts of North America and Scotland, it includes many important glimpses of the older Cape Breton bagpiping tradition. These alone will set apart this third book which Barry Shears has produced.
