Over ninety years ago in the very heart of Scotland, within an area of Highland Perthshire called Atholl, an Association was formed to maintain and encourage the traditional art of Highland piping. The present day custodians of this cultural heritage have established one of the most exciting and innovatively musical Pipe bands in all of Scotland namely Macnaughtons Vale of Atholl. The Current Pipe Major is Andy Renwick. Having been the Pipe Sergeant for quite a number of years under P/M Ian Duncan, Andy was handed the reins after the 2000 Pipe Band season. The membership of the grade One Band, around the 30 mark, come from all over the UK, from Perthshire, Fife and the Lothian's, Glasgow, Aberdeen and as far as Forres in Morayshire to the City of Salford near Manchester in England.
