This talented band carries a considerable CV and comprises of Paul Jennings on drums and percussion (Old Blind Dogs and Croft No 5), Ewan MacPherson on guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocals (Malinky, Dàimh and Fine Friday) and fiddle teacher performer, step-dancer Amy Geddes on fiddle and vocals.
Amy Geddes: Raised in Galloway, Amy is now at the forefront of contemporary Scottish Fiddle playing as a performer, teacher and composer. She has performed in Scotland and Europe with various artists including Tannas, the Scottish Step Dance Company and Savourna Stevenson. Her fiddle style has developed over the years through playing with a numerous musicians in an eclectic variety of musical styles including, for example, a performance on a tribute album to Brian Wilson and a new piece of music for the Edinburgh Mela, working with Chinese and Pakistani musicians. This all converges to result in an assured and unique fiddle style firmly rooted in Scotland yet enhanced by an increasingly broad wealth of musical experience. Amy is now based in Edinburgh and is a full time musician, performer and teacher.
Ewan MacPherson: Born in Liverpool, Ewan was one of the first ever intake of students at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Ewan has performed with a wide range of artists including Fine Friday, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winner John Spiers (Spiers & Boden), Dàimh, Emily Smith, Bùrach, Cantrip, and All-Ireland champion Claire Mann. and has a strong interest in Scandinavian music, working with Fribo (with vocalist Anne Sofie Linge Valdal - Jim Sutherland's Cold Weather Dancing - and fiddler Sarah-Jane Fifield), and pan-European six-piece Althing. Ewan is also one of the organisers of the Northern Streams Scandinavian music festival in Edinburgh each spring and works for Stoneyport music agency. An active member of the Edinburgh session scene, Ewan is becoming recognized as one of Scotland's most versatile multi-instrumentalists.
Paul Jennings: Raised in the Shetland Islands, Paul was the drummer with Scottish traditional band Old Blind Dogs working and touring the world with them for four years before joining trad funk outfit Croft no Five. Paul has performed with Jim Malcolm, Capercaillie, Siren, Fred Morrison, Andrew White, The Blizzards, Jenna Reid, Emily Smith and Boys of the Lough. He collaborated with fellow drummer and composer Fraser Stone to write a piece of music named "SJP Voyajer" show cased Celtic Connections Festival. |
