    Taynuilt Gaelic Choir

The choir was formed in January 1997 and although junior choirs in the village have long proved fertile breeding grounds for  world class musicians such as Karen Matheson and Donald Shaw of renowned Celtic band, 'Capercaillie' , Coisir Ghaidhlig Thaigh an Uillt is the first adult Gaelic choir in Taynuilt since the Second World War. They presently have around 30 members and their main aim is to compete annually at the foremost festival of Gaelic music and culture, the Royal National Mod

The picturesque Highland village of Taynuilt has around 900 inhabitants. It lies at the foot of Ben Cruachan, (one of Scotland's Munros) by the shores of beautiful Loch Etive, and is 12 miles from Oban, ferry port and gateway to the Western Isles. Taynuilt Gaelic Choir hold their weekly rehearsals in the Taynuilt Sports Pavilion on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. The village is a haven of tranquility in the Lorn area of Argyll and lies between Loch Awe, with its magnificent fishing and Loch Etive where you can view the local wildlife, including seals, on a summer cruise up the water aboard Donald Kennedy's  MV 'Anne of Etive'.
