Rosie Morton is a young Clarsach player and singer from Edinburgh. A finalist in the 2004 Young Traditional Musician of the Year, she studied Scottish Music at the RSAMD in Glasgow where she enjoyed exploring the rich repertoire of her first instrument and developing her voice.
Her unique style is mainly driven by pipe and fiddle tunes, occasionally delving into the historical repertoire of the Clarsach or indulging her love of O’Carolan’s melodies. During her time in Glasgow she also gained a passion for Scots and Gaelic song, complimenting her voice with inventive accompaniment on the Clarsach.
Since graduating she has divided her time between teaching and performing. She currently plays with a variety of groups including ‘Sonsie Music’, a company specialising in musical shows for children and ‘Busk ‘Till Dawn’, a harp-fiddle duo with musician and painter, Carrie Thomas.
She released her first solo album "When The Thaw Comes" in 2005. |
