Veteran broadcaster Robbie Shepherd has been at the helm of BBC Radio Scotland's ever popular Saturday evening's Scottish dance music programme of Take The Floor for the past twenty years whilst presenting Sunday morning's Reel Blend for about the same time. He feels deeply about Scottish traditions especially Scotland's music and native tongue.
He was honoured in the New Year's Honours List 2001 with an MBE for his services to Scottish dance music and culture. Robbie is also an acknowledged expert in his beloved Doric language and for this was awarded the Master of the University by Aberdeen University in the same year.
Robbie is no stranger to the Highland Games scene as he has been commentating on the Grampian Games circuit for the past 35 years including the most famous Braemar Gathering, which is attended by The Queen and members of the Royal Family.
Robbie is also in great demand as a concert compere and was for many years compere of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra concerts travelling the length and breadth of the country including London's Royal Albert Hall.
