Singer, musician, broadcaster Mary Ann Kennedy has been surrounded by music all her life. She was brought up in a Gaelic-speaking family in Glasgow – her father from the Isle of Tiree and mother, Kenna Campbell, one of the Campbell family of Greepe in the Isle of Skye, a family well-known as singers and pipers.
With Na Seòid we see the singing and playing talents of some of Gaeldom's finest young singers - all marshalled and pointed in the right direction by Mary Ann.
Mary Ann writes " The human voice has always been for me the greatest of musical instruments....I feel like Na Seòid has been what my lifelong passion for singing has been all about - it's just been waiting to happen. A new and confident young generation of Gaels has yielded up Na Seòid, seven of Gaeldom's finest young male singers, all of them instrumentalists to boot, and for whom Gaelic is part of their everyday lives rather than just a performance.
Mary Ann Kennedy and Na Seòid features: Mary Ann Kennedy, Angus MacPhail, Calum ALec MacMillan, Gillebride MacMillan, Grioghar Labhruidh, James Graham, Norrie MacArthur, Tormod MacArthur. |
