Margaret Stewart from the Island of Lewis is a native Gaelic speaker and a natural singer from childhood who has also won the "classical" accolade of a Gold Medal at the Mod. She has made several appearances at the Edinburgh International Festival of the Arts and guested at festivals and concerts all over the country including the Gaelic Societies of both London and Inverness and in such far-flung places as Singapore, the USA, Canada, France, Ireland, Germany and Venezuela. Margaret has taught pupils at various summer-schools passing on her songs anfd the tradition to students and she has made many television appearances as well as recording songs for films including The St. Kilda Wedding and The Emigrants for BBC Scotland. She has recorded two acclaimed CDs with noted musician and fellow Gael Allan MacDonald and released her solo CD Togaidh Mi Mo Sheolta (Along The Road Less Travelled) in 2008. |
