Maeve Mackinnon is one of Scotland's foremost young Gaelic and Scots singers. Born and bred in Glasgow, with Skye and Swedish ancestry, she is fast making a name for herself in the folkworld with her fresh and contemporary interpretations of traditional Gaelic and non-Gaelic material.
An Honours graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and a finalist in the "BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2005" Award competition, Maeve has travelled widely with her music, and broadcast on radio and television numerous times including Scottish Television’s acclaimed "Ceol aig a' Chaisteal”. She has also been involved in various projects, passing on the oral tradition including teaching for Feisean nan Gaidheal. She was a voice coach for the RSAMD Youthworks project in Sighthill (Glasgow), and musical director for South Ayrshire Council's award-nominated "Broonie: The Legend" project, a Scots theatrical production for children who have no musical background.
At present, Maeve juggles her increasing singing engagements with her studies at the Gaelic College, Sabhal Mor Ostaig, on the Island of Skye.
