HRM are Kevin Henderson, Jenna Reid and Kevin MacKenzie, an occasional trio with an interest in playing traditional and self-penned contemporary music from Shetland, Scotland, Ireland and Scandanavia.
Jenna and Kevin Henderson grew up steeped in the fiddle music traditions of their native Shetland Islands. Both studied with some of Shetland’s finest fiddle players, including Dr Tom Anderson and the Willie Hunter. Kevin MacKenzie is an Edinburgh-born guitarist whose talent is equally appreciated in both Jazz and folk circles.
Kevin Henderson was a founder member of Shetland group ‘Fiddlers’ Bid’ and has toured extensively playing at world famous venues along the way including the Sydney Opera House, the Melbourne Concert Hall and as part of the millennium celebrations and at the ‘Smithsonian Folk Life Festival’ in Washington D.C. He is also a member of Boys of the Lough, one of the best known of all Celtic groups following in the footsteps of another fine Shetland fiddler Aly Bain.
Jenna Reid’s fiddling has seen her win many prizes not least the Scots Trad Music Awards 2005 ‘Best Up & Coming Artist’. She is also a world travelled musician and a member of Highland band Dochas, and the ever-popular Deaf Shepherd and, Shetland quartet Filska.
Guitarist Kevin Mackenzie is a highly respected and much sought after musician within the jazz and traditional Scottish music scenes. He has worked alongside many great musicians over the years including from the jazz world, Robben Ford, Ornette Coleman, Julian Arguelles and John Abercrombie to name a few. He has played an essential role in the success of projects such as, the John Rae Collective, Trio AAB, and the Scottish Guitar Quartet and fronts his own band, Swirler. He is a member of the Scottish Guitar Quartet and works and tours constantly with some of the world's leading traditional Celtic musicians such as Fiddler's Bid and the Finlay MacDonald Band.
