Gunna Sound are a Ceilidh band whose musical roots run deep through Argyll and the Islands
Campbell Brown and Johnny Scoular have been providing music for weddings, ceilidhs, parties and pub sessions for well over two decades in a variety of guises and line ups that have seen them travel the length and breadth of Scotland.
Playing from a wide variety of musical genres, Gunna Sounds repertoire includes a full selection of round the room Ceilidh dances, and an extensive song list that usually invokes the comment at the end of the night, ‘so you’re not just a Ceilidh band!’
The boys try and cater for all tastes and there musical influences range from John Prine, Steve Earle, and the Saw Doctors to Norman MacLean, Graham Mitchell and the Wallochmor Ceilidh Band. This is reflected in the style of the performance you will hear at one of their gigs, along with some good humour and craic!
Based now in the west end of Glasgow, the band take regular sorties to Ardnamurchan, Morvern, Oban, Mull and beyond to fulfil engagements, although you will be more likely to hear them play in the Park Bar in Glasgow where they have a regular week end bookings.
Campbell Brown (accordion, vocals) was born and brought up on the beautiful island of Tiree, in the Inner Hebrides.
Johnny Scoular (guitar, whistles, vocals) hails from the village of Lochaline in the Morvern peninsula. |
