Gavin MarwickGavin was born in Edinburgh and brought up in a family that was full of traditional music. He was taught traditional fiddle by Alastair Hardie, Davy Tulloch, Angus Grant & Tom Anderson, and classical by Michael Rigg.
Since turning professional, tours, concerts, festivals, recordings, TV and radio have taken him far and wide around the globe, developing an interest in music from other cultures and getting great inspiration from many different musicians. Gavin played with folk rockers Burach and he was a founder member of landmark Scottish folk band The Iron Horse. He is currently a member of Cantrip and has recently toured with Scottish 'big band' phenomenon, The Unusual Suspects
Gavin is a prolific composer and has completed commissions The Gamekeeper (BBC with Iron Horse) and Outlying Islands (Traverse and the Royal Court, London). He has recently been working, in collaboraton with accordiionist, composer/arranger Bob Turner on the music for a series of Around Scotland DVDs.
