26 year old Farquhar MacDonald is a well-known Skye fiddler and piper. He was the regular playing partner for several years of accordionist Archie MacFarlane playing at local events, ceilidhs and festivals and the pair recorded an album titled "She's Good On The Croft" in 2000. When the album was launched in Skye, there was a huge turnout which led to the community to create the very popular annual Edinbane Festival now in its fourth year.
Farquhar went on to form a six-piece celtic funk groove band (Iain Copeland, Peter Morrison, Seumas Maclellan, Andy Thorburn, Graham Findlay, Innes Hutton and Hector MacInnes) which made its debut at Edinbane in 2003 and their appearances have been described as "A very fiery bunch of sesh merchants" -Drams in the Field Festival and "A great mix, trancy, dancy, traditional and quite beautiful." - Highland Festival.
Farquhar and the band have recorded a CD titled "Ghost Shirt" which will be released in 2004. |
