Donnie Murdo is an international consultant in education, is well known as a Gaelic singer, psalm precentor and has recorded the solo CD, "Sguab is dloth". He also featured on the acclaimed CD Lasair Dhe. He has recorded for BBC Radio and for the Independent Television Network.
Originally from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, Donnie Murdo is regarded as one of the leading traditional Gaelic singers. He won the Gold Medal for traditional singing at the National Mod in 1996 in Blairgowrie and this brought his singing to a wider audience. At a subsequent National Mod, he also won the award for Gaelic Psalm singing. He is widely regarded as a singer of great depth with a capacity for communicating, with sensitivity, the narrative and poetry of songs.
