    Deoch 'n' Dorus

    Bookmark and Share

Deoch 'n' Dorus  - Stuart Cameron, Simon Moranand Andrew MacPherson  - were formed in 2001 when they met on the R.S.A.M.D. traditional music course in Glasgow. Their musical styles and interests gelled instantly and they have gone on to become favourites on the cèilidh and festival scenes.

Simon hails from the Isle of Jura on the west coast. He describes himself as mainly a west coast, pipe-style fiddle player. He has been playing with the Jura Ceilidh Band from the age of 17. However, since moving to Glasgow, Simon has gained a Degree in Traditional music, toured in Scotland with Dougie MacLean, performed at Celtic Connections and toured Europe with the R.S.A.M.D. Out with Deoch 'n' Dorus, Simon recently joined the folk group Canterach after making his debut with them at the Lorient festival in France, 2004.

Originally from Fort William, Stuart is currently in his honours year at the R.S.A.M.D. He has enjoyed success on the competition scene where in 2004 at Perth, he received first place for both best Scottish Dance Band and best rhythm section! Stuart has been a guest artist on the BBC Radio Scotland programme 'Take the Floor' and has performed at the renowned Accordion & Fiddle festival in Shetland. He has also played in Ireland, Norway, Germany and Denmark.

Andrew is from Portree, in the Isle of Skye. He also studied at the RSAMD where he received his honours degree. He plays both pipe and ceilidh band style drumming. He is also a talented percussionist and an accomplished piper. He is a full time musician and is also involved with other musical organizations, namely the National Youth Pipe Band and Fèis nan Gàidheal. Andrew's versatility has led to him performing across Europe.
