Claire and Aaron met on the thriving Edinburgh trad scene and have been a musical partnership for some six years.
Claire comes from Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east of England and has established herself as one of the leading exponents of Traditional Irish Flute, Fiddle and Song. She has been performing since an early age and has won numerous All Ireland Championships on flute, whistle and fiddle. Claire has also performed for the renowned British Flute Society who described her as, “…astonishing.”As well as her pedigree as a performer, Claire is highly sought after as a traditional music tutor. She currently teaches the Flute and Tin Whistle at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and is a regular visiting tutor on Flute and Fiddle at Newcastle University. She has also taught at the Folkworks Summer Schools, Strathclyde University and has run workshops at numerous festivals worldwide. A regular on the Edinburgh session scene, she has also toured extensively worldwide with bands Tabache, Craobh Rua and Christy O'Leary and released her debut solo album "Claire Mann" in September 2001 on the Foot Stompin' label to great critical acclaim. Aaron, born in Poole Dorset, was encouraged by his Northern Irish musical family to take up the Bouzouki and the Bass Guitar at the age of sixteen. He has toured worldwide with artists such as Craobh Rua, Seelyhoo, The Sandy Brechin Band, Iron Horse, Keep It Up. He has performed onstage with the various artists which include The Boys of the Lough, The Moving Cloud, Eamon Coyne, Flook, Phil Cunningham, Aly Bain, Michael McGoldrick, Deaf Shepherd, Fred Morrison and Carlos Nunez and has made numerous TV and Radio appearances worldwide. When not performing in a duo with Claire, he tours the world with Old Blind Dogs, a band voted "Folk Band of the Year" in 2004. |
