Cilla Fisher and Artie Trezise are now-a-days better known for their "Singing Kettle" series of childrens entertainment shows. During the Seventies they released several LPs and were popular guests around the clubs and festivals. "Cilla & Artie" was in fact, "The Melody Maker Folk Album of the Year - 1979". That same year Melody Maker chose "Fear of Music" by Talking Heads as popular music album of the year. In recent years Cilla has appeared in a number of events for Glasgows's "Celtic Connections" festival including the highly acclaimed "Scottish Women" production. Singing for adults!
Born in Glasgow on 26th September 1952, Cilla grew up in a musical family (her brother Archie and sister Ray were among the first professional folk singers in Scotland). She appeared in her first BBC radio show at the age of nine and sang on a family recording soon after. Cilla turned professional folk singer with Artie Trezise in 1974, and established herself as one of the unique voices of her generation, giving Scottish ballad tradition a mature interpretation that belied her years.
St Andrew's born Artie Gave up his teaching career to go on the road as a folk singer with his wife, Cilla Fisher. Over the years, Artie and Cilla have played most of the major folk festivals in the world, appearing throughout Europe, the Far East, Australia, Canada and the USA.
