Born and bred in Bathgate Chris considers himself most fortunate to have been taught by PM. John Matheson (B.E.M) Cameronians (S.R), during the earlier part of his piping career During his solo career he has risen from the juniors aged 8 to professional aged 16 and for the next few years concentrated on the Pipe Band scene with similar commitment and enthusiasm. In the winter of 1997/8 Chris encouraged and taught the young members of Seafield and District Pipe Band who wished to embark on solo piping career and was pleased to accept the post of Pipe Major in 1998. While focusing on this task Chris also engaged in the post as Pipe Sergeant of Torphicen and Bathgate Pipe Band with responsibilities of setting the band up , constructing medleys and tutoring pipe band members. The band competed successfully over the next year using a number of Chris’s compositions. Always striving for a new challenge Chris’s focus returned to his solo career with amazing results and undoubtedly through the tutoring by Mr Andrew Wright. Chris plays Robertson Pipes with a wooden D. Niall piper chanter which features predominately on both his albums "Notes in ma Heid" and "Quantum Leap".
Chris has recently become a full time piping instructor with The Piping Centre, his focus now encompasses passing on his knowledge, expertise and his genuine love for piping, to ensure its survival and growth.
