Calum Kennedy Calum Kennedy, a gaelic singer and entertainer was born in the Lochs area of Lewis in 1928. He once had ambitions to be a doctor but instead turned his attention towards a musical career. In 1955 he carried off the National Mod Gold Medal and two years later he went to Moscow to win the National Ballad Competition from 700 other competitiors drawn from every corner of the world. Calum Kennedy perhaps reached his peak in the 1960s and 1970s with his Calum's Ceilidh Television series but people throughout the world strill remember his beautiful lilting Gaelic voice.
Calum Kennedy died on April 16th 2006 after a long illness. |
