Corrina Hewat formed Bachué with pianist David Milligan for Glasgow's Celtic Connections Festival back in 1995. The band has performed and recorded with various line-ups over the years, but the duo of harp/vocals & piano has always been what defines Bachué's sound. In its inventive, sophisticated yet wholly organic integration of traditional forms and material with jazz tonalities and rhythms, Bachué are leading exponents of jazz/folk music in Scotland and have been described as "The essence of Celtic Cool..."
Corrina Hewat: Corrina has found herself in escalating demand not only for her harp skills and voice, but as a composer of fast-widening repute. Her full tally of projects is far too numerous to list here, but suffice to say her current discography runs to around thirty recordings, including albums by Eric Bibb, Carol Kidd and Horse MacDonald,a solo CD titled "My Favourite Place" and three volumes of Linn Records' landmark Complete Works of Robert Burns series. As well as Bachué - whose third album is due out in the autumn of 2004 - she has performed with several different line-ups across the folk-jazz interface, including Seannachie, Chantan and Lammas, and is currently a member of the acclaimed vocal/harps trio Shine. The variety of songs, styles and showbiz in the joining of the two trios is an instant hit! She and David Milligan are also the Musical Directors of the fabulous folk orchestra, The Unusual Suspects
David Milligan: David is one of the highest regarded pianists in Scotland. Born in the Scottish Borders in 1971, and a Post-Graduate of the City of Leeds College of Music, David is heavily involved in a wide variety of projects within the UK music scene. His principle reputation lies in his work as a jazz pianist, but in recent years he has been exploring and developing a unique crossover style of piano playing. Merging his natural talent for jazz and improvisation with the traditional folk music of his native Scotland, he has created his own inimitable sound and has performed throughout Europe, the USA, Canada and Asia. David's highly rated trio CD 'Late Show' was released in 2003 to great acclaim. He also plays in a duo with concertinist Simon Thoumire and the pair released ahighly acclaimed CD titled "The Big Day In"
